A Campus Full of Heart

Every February, Ivy Tech Indianapolis celebrates the meaningful connections that began on its campus—from its classrooms, Bowen Commons, study lounges, and virtual classes. We Met at Ivy Indy honors the lifelong bonds forged here: romantic partnerships, deep friendships, and collaborations that changed lives. These stories remind us that the most powerful connections often spark between lectures and late-night study sessions.

When Agustina Quinonez, '26, and Nathaniel Post, '25, were randomly assigned to a group project in earth science class in 2024—despite being different majors—neither expected it to change their lives. What started as studying rocks and ecosystems became late-night conversations, coffee breaks, and undeniable chemistry. What began as a class assignment became the foundation of their relationship, and the pair started dating.

The momentum didn't slow. They got married in 2025, and now they're preparing for their biggest project yet: welcoming their first baby girl in 2026!

Allison & Jason — Class of 2009 & 2010

Allison and Jason Crouch’s story began in Ivy Tech’s Hospitality Administration program, where a shared passion for culinary arts brought them together. Allison, '10, was on a path to become a registered dietitian, while Jason, '09, dreamed of being an executive chef. Their connection sparked in the kitchens and classrooms, growing from classmates to study partners, and ultimately, to life partners.

After graduation and a proposal, they built a beautiful life together. Today, Jason serves as the executive chef for Aramark at the Indianapolis Zoo, and Allison excels in a thriving ophthalmology practice. They continue to champion their industry, both serving on the board of the American Culinary Federation of Greater Indianapolis—Jason as an Edmond Gaas award winner.

Reflecting on their journey, Allison says, “There’s something special about the hospitality field and Ivy Tech. It’s where home began for me.”

That foundation has blossomed into a shared dream: a marriage, three children, and a lasting partnership. With Allison now looking to return to school for event management, their story of growth, which started on campus, continues to unfold.

Boubacar & Eric — Class of 2023 & 2024

Boubacar Balde and Eric Alexander’s Ivy Tech story is a testament to love founded on ambition. They met in a communications class at Ivy Tech Indianapolis, where Eric, '24, was studying visual communications and Boubacar, '23, was pursuing Liberal and General Studies. In that very classroom, while learning the art of public persuasion, they discovered a more personal kind of connection. Their first official date—dinner at Olive Garden followed by games at Dave & Busters—solidified the spark that had begun amidst their presentations.

After graduation, their academic journeys diverged. Eric transferred to the University of Indianapolis to study sports management, while Boubacar headed to Purdue University to pursue political science. Despite the distance, their bond only grew stronger, proving that their love was deeper than any map could measure. Their journey reached a beautiful milestone when Eric planned a surprise proposal at the scenic Wabash River in West Lafayette, where Boubacar was studying.

Now, as they each work toward their separate degrees, they are united in planning a shared future. They look forward to celebrating their wedding as soon as they cross their respective graduation stages, building a life that began with a shared classroom and flourished across two campuses. Their story is a perfect example of how Ivy Tech can be the starting point for a partnership that thrives on both love and mutual dedication to growth.
